What is Binary Code?

Binary is a “base-2” numeral system that uses only two symbols: 0 and 1. It is the fundamental language of all modern computers. Every letter, number, and symbol you see on a screen is represented by a specific sequence of eight bits (a byte).

For example, the letter “H” in binary is 01001000. When you type “Hi” into our text-to-binary converter, the computer sees it as 01001000 01101001.

Standard 8-bit binary representations (ASCII/UTF-8).
